Kyon takes pride in being able to detect Yuki's changes in mood and development in becoming more humanlike, but how accurate his detections really are is always left ambiguous. 23 episodes in and its still yet to make an appearance. At least she doesn't attack me like Haruhi does. Haruhi tends to pursue her goals regardless of who gets in the way, or is hurt, such as Mikuru in the aforementioned blackmail. Kyon, on the other hand, she's been able to boss around because he's more the kind of person who will follow along and do as he's told even if he gripes about it frequently. Kyon starts to show negative feelings towards the Data Overmind and its Humanoid Interfaces bar Yuki when it becomes clear that they will do nothing to help Yuki in her sickness while she tries to sort things out with the Sky Canopy Dominion. She also has a tendency to be jealous and angry when Kyon gets too friendly with any girl. I can't forgive them. He (probably?) Just goes to show, whether you are an omniscient alien or an obliviously omnipotent schoolgirl, Kyon knows how to blackmail. Haruhi tends to pursue her goals regardless of who gets in the way, or is hurt, such as Mikuru in the aforementioned blackmail. In The Dissociation of Haruhi Suzumiya Kyon becomes involved in a timeline split. Actually, though, Kyon's mood does seem to reflect Haruhi's. If we saw just a little more Nagato or just a little more Mikuru they would (probably) be the best girl. Screw the Sword of Damocles hanging over his head. Ah of course, pushing Mikuru into the lake, a great and necessary sacrifice. He sometimes defends her against Haruhi. Don't you dare let Haruhi stop fooling around with this! Kyon once said that a cup of tap water from Mikuru to grace him is much more delicious than anything else. Also highly amusing was Yuki wrestling Miruku to the ground, apparently against Haruhi's normally tight direction. In February 2010, Kadokawa Shoten announced in the April 2010 edition of The Sneaker that the first part of the novel would release in the next issue that would be released on April 30, 2010. SOS Brigade members The SOS Brigade is an unofficial club at North High School founded to facilitate Haruhi Suzumiya's escapades. It really felt like Kyon should have just been done at this point. He apologizes for not doing enough to prevent the strain that led her to change the world and gives her a message which would protect her from being erased by the Data Integration Thought Entity, prompting her to thank him. Again, that's going too far. The future version of Mikuru informs Kyon in The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya that Kyon will soon be forced to make a choice that determines the fate of the future. As the two talk, Haruhi decides to attend North High School in hopes of meeting aliens, time travelers, and espers. Another point for Kyon: When Haruhi gets angry at Kyon when he refuses to tell her what is on his mind after her stand-in performance for ENOZ, she throws grass at him, but it is blown back into her face rather than hitting Kyon. Another point for Kyon: When Haruhi gets angry at Kyon when he refuses to tell her what is on his mind after her stand-in performance for ENOZ, she throws grass at him, but it is blown back into her face rather than hitting Kyon The S.O.S Brigade (Spreading Excitement all Over the World with Haruhi Suzumiya Brigade) or simply, SOS or SOS Dan, is a club created by the main character Haruhi Suzumiya at North High in May of year 0. It's clearly been building up to something like this. What kind of friend spikes their friend’s drink like it’s just a joke? Episode Title: The Sigh of Haruhi Suzumiya IV, Legal Stream: Funimation | Netflix (HK/SK/Thailand) | AnimeLab (Aus/NZ). The Intrigues of Haruhi Suzumiya (涼宮ハルヒの陰謀) (Suzumiya Haruhi no Inbō) is a Haruhi Suzumiya Light Novel. Haruhi This sort of idea that's fired her up is exactly the kind of thing I'd believe to bring this side out again though. The actions of certain characters within the episode is worth some anger, but that is the intent in the first place, if you're feeling that way the show is doing a good job. Haruhi yells at Kyon a ton, but at this moment you know that her anger is genuine. He is furious, probably because he is frustrated with her and is fed up with this kind of shit when deep down he does think she can be better. He tried to explain these dreams (about aliens, time travelers and espers) to Sasaki, but she only denied their existence. She starts the SOS Brigade, and drags Kyon into it, where he tries his best to stop Haruhi from causing too much trouble. Versus say, getting hate because an episode is repeated 8 times... ETA: I should say that if things remain the status quo, then a lot of hate towards the episode is totally valid. Kyon's real name is never given, and everyone calls him by his nickname, given to him by his aunt. That is some very awkward positioning among those two. In some cases, however, he follows orders from her that he genuinely disagrees with, out of simple loyalty. "Kyon I'm done." She expresses her dream to meet aliens, time travelers, and espers. I'm really not trying to defend it, it is something really bad to do, but it seems to be in line with something dumb teens would do. In contrast to his familiar, unguarded relationship with Haruhi, Kyon regards Mikuru with a sort of reverence and is shy about interacting with her closely. But his curiosity gets the better of him when he tries to talk to Haruhi Suzumiya. "Those around her" going mad apparently also includes Kyon now. Both Haruhi and Kyon are still growing up and they are a bit of a mess as all teens are, and they have lots of issues to work with. At first glance, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya appears rather whimsical. So something really bad to do, not something that can make me hate a character and I do think people bring it out of proportion to the point of defending Kyon who was as much in the wrong as Haruhi here, imo. Yuki and Kyon help out the girl, Haruhi Suzumiya, who claims she spent the night attempting to capture Santa. Kyon (キョン Kyon) is the main protagonist of the series and primary narrator. Kyon soon finds out that her new members - Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina, and Itsuki Koizumi, are in fact an alien, a time traveler, and an esper respectively. He gave her the idea of forming her own club, which resulted in her dragging him into founding the SOS Brigade and recruiting members. The whole "Haruhi could destroy everything and we need to make sure she doesn't" thing gives the writers the perfect excuse to let Mikuru be abused. But yeah, what you said about the confrontation, it's definitely something that was needing to happen. I'll be looking forward to the finale, hopefully I'll be able to keep up a little better. This is only the second time I've watched this arc (I've watched everything before E8 multiple times), and I have to say that I've been missing out. Ah, I didn't think of it like this but it certainly makes more sense lol. Kyon feels that Mikuru isn’t Haruhi’s toy, and when Haruhi declares that Mikuru is, Kyon … So the fact that Kyon's upset with Haruhi does seem to affect her, while I can't imagine the same would be true if Mikuru (for example) were upset with her. In The Melancholy of Mikuru Asahina Mikuru recruits Kyon to rescue a child, but cannot tell him her real reason for inviting him out due to her orders from the future. He gets even more angry when he realizes that Haruhi had Tsuruya put alcohol in Mikuru’s drink, and Haruhi’s treatment of Mikuru leads to an argument between him and Haruhi. He's going to get mad. Personal experience, I was drugged by some friends when I was a teen. It seems like the impression he made on young Haruhi was a lasting one. He's not one to get upset or snap at his friends, but he's stewing something fierce. As he stated in "The Day of Sagittarius", he seems to naturally stay in the absurd environment of the SOS brigade. Haruhi recluta a Kyon a la fuerza para que la ayude a fundar el club, al que llama Brigada SOS, (SOS proviene de "Sekai wo Ooini moriagerutame no Suzumiya Haruhi no Dan", que significa algo así como "Salvar el mundo con Kyon is the only one who Haruhi will listen to even when his advice goes against her personal desires. Taniguchi (谷口 Taniguchi) is Kyon's friend and classmate at North High. He seldom smiles, and only very rarely laughs. When they make up in the clubroom it’s so great because it’s so them. Doesn't bother me, though. You find out that Haruhi Suzumiya is less bossy.'' That being said, what Haruhi and Tsuruya did is truly despicable. Everyone besides Haruhi and Tsuruya is clearly appalled, and even Tsuruya comes around in short order. Apparently, in middle school, Kyon had dreams that people like aliens, time travelers, and espers existed. Why did that gay-ass esper always follow her? All of the pigeons turned to white. Kyon is none of those things, and Haruhi is mad at how normal he is, and mad at how normal she is, and bullies him into joining a club with her dedicated to the task of finding those people who she deems as interesting. There's interesting social commentary to be had here should the show be interested in pursuing it. As a result of all this though, the interaction between Kyon and Haruhi the next day is amazing. It makes sense to get angry, and I'm glad Kyon did even if he went too far but I wouldn't call her evil or think it's unforgivable like so many watchers I've read seem to think. When he's pushed, Kyon will actually tell Haruhi that no, she can't do whatever she wants all the time. Two weeks before that date it was changed to "TBA" - no information has been given as to why it was pushed back. She wondered if she had met him before but otherwise dismissed him as an ordinary person. I'm a lot like her in a lot of ways. She never has to face any reality she doesn't want to, because reality can be whatever she wants. Both he and Haruhi need to chill. he avoids telling her about Sasaki, who his middle school classmates thought he was romantically involved with. Kyon gets furious for the first (?) Haruhi debates going with a ponytail to gain forgiveness that way. He believes that Yuki's actions to alter the world were because of emotions, and he tries to keep up with her emotional development. bit. Will we finally meet that cat from the first opening? In "Bamboo Leaf Rhapsody", Mikuru takes Kyon three years back in time, where he helps a young Haruhi draw her infamous design at East Junior High. Kyon has at least one aunt, who gave him his nickname. Kyon steps way over the line to the point of physical violence which in my opinion is as bad as what Haruhi did. His choice is presented to him at the meeting, in which he is told to decide whether to transplant Haruhi's powers into Sasaki, who is revealed to have similar powers to Haruhi, or to let Haruhi keep her powers and risk turning over the world. Yuki Nagato saves Kyon's life in The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya. In The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, Kyon is thrown into an altered world in which Yuki, Mikuru, Haruhi, and Itsuki are normal humans, Haruhi and Itsuki attend a different school, and there is no SOS Brigade. Kyon is the main male protagonist and narrator of the Haruhi Suzumiya light novel, manga and anime series. "I'd sort of like to know what you consider normal, but I'm almost afraid to ask." Despite Koizumi's tendency to be noncommittal in his statements, frequently claiming to have been "Just kidding", he remains essentially honest with Kyon, sharing information with him beyond what he strictly needs to know. But today she goes too far and we can see the difference between Kyon and the other three members of the SOS brigade. Kyon's getting back on Haruhi's side? Haruhi is a goddess. No, not the fact that Time Travellers, Aliens, and Espers exist. Koizumi has repeatedly suggested that Kyon date Haruhi, suggesting that would make her happy (and reduce incidents of closed space). From "The Melancholy of Suzumiya Haruhi" comes the SOS Brigade's one and only ordinary human, "Kyon", unexpectedly made into a figma! Indeed, things always seem to work out for the better for Kyon. Now, Kyon and a ragtag group of recruits are Haruhi’s right-hand men in the newly formed SOS Brigade. A short little something that got me back into writing fanfiction after a … The brigade members Kyon, Yuki Nagato, Mikuru Asahina and Itsuki Koizumi start preparing everything for the party, such as costumes and decorations. A. (Haruhi suddenly grabs Kyon by his shirt) Kyon: Hn- Haruhi: What do Of course, Haruhi's gonna have them trespass with the pool. However, he does poorly in school, at least in part due to a lack of willingness to study. Kyon is able to tell the difference between a real Mikuru and a fake one (although a fake Mikuru has only appeared once, in "Snow Mountain Syndrome") as he knows about the birthmark on her breast. However, I really believe it’s a powerful episode and a huge culmination of all the tension and discomfort that has been building in the last three episodes. What are you doing, Taniguchi?! Kyon's most obvious characteristic is his snarky and cynical manner, which he often uses to hide his true emotions. The cat did talk, right? A big part of me being higher on it is my belief (or maybe I should say hope) that the events of this episode will cause changes in the Haruhi - Kyon relationship and Haruhi's mentality that Mikuru is just her prop. I made her mad. Haruhi tends to pursue her goals regardless of who gets in the way, or is hurt, such as Mikuru in the aforementioned blackmail. This will not be an unstoppable rage; but the righteous anger of one who knows exactly how the universe works. Stunning, brash, and completely clueless about her powers, Haruhi Suzumiya can make anything bend to her will. In the episode "The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part 6", Kyon can be seen wearing a Hamilton American "Ventura" wristwatch, as worn by the Men in Black. Same can be said here, we know Haruhi is incredibly self centered. He finds himself feeling out of place whenever put into a supernatural situation such as the closed spaces in Mystérique Sign and The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya Part 6 or when placed into the rewritten world in The Disappearance of Haruhi Suzumiya, claiming he has misfortune since he is the only "normal" one in the SOS Brigade. Although she doesn't know it, she's a goddess who has the ability destroy the world--don't make her mad! However I don't find what Haruhi did as unforgivable as others think. ―Kyon. Kyon will be mad with Haruhi when she is being selfish and hurting herself. As such, Itsuki has given him "responsibility" for controlling Haruhi's emotions. Kyon realizes he could stay in this "normal" world for good and joining the Literature Club, but immediately decides that a world with the SOS Brigade is more interesting and fun, no matter how annoying it is.
